Origami Dripper Buyer’s Guide – S vs M, Ceramic vs Air
The Origami dripper lineup has a few moving parts: two materials, two sizes, multiple colors, and a handful of accessories. If you’re trying to figure out exactly what to buy, this guide walks through every decision point.
Step 1: Choose Your Size – S or M
The size choice is simple and comes down to how much coffee you brew at a time.
Origami Dripper S (Small): Makes 1–2 cups. Diameter is 4.52 inches, height is 2.75 inches. Hole diameter is 0.98 inches. This is the right size for a single serving (typically 200–250ml of brewed coffee with a 12–15g dose). If you’re brewing for yourself, go with the S.
Origami Dripper M (Medium): Makes 1–4 cups. Diameter is 5.43 inches, height is 3.43 inches. Same 0.98 inch hole diameter. This handles larger brews (up to around 400–500ml) and gives you the flexibility to brew for two people or just make a bigger mug for yourself. If you ever brew more than one cup or want flexibility, go with the M.
If you’re unsure, the M is the safer bet. You can always brew a small cup in a medium dripper, but you can’t brew a large cup in a small one.
Step 2: Choose Your Material – Ceramic or Air
We’ve written a full comparison of these two, but here’s the short version.

Step 3: Choose Your Filters
The Origami dripper works with both wave and cone filters. You’ll need at least one type to start brewing.
Origami Wave Filters (50 sheets per pack) – Produce a smoother, sweeter cup with more balanced extraction. More forgiving for beginners. Great for medium and dark roasts.
Origami Cone Filters (100 sheets per pack) – Produce a more complex cup with brighter acidity and layered flavors. Great for light roasts and for brewers who like to experiment.
Cone + Wave Set – We sell a combo pack if you want to try both and see which you prefer. This is what we’d recommend for most first-time buyers.
Match your filter size to your dripper size: 1–2 cup filters for the S dripper, 2–4 cup filters for the M dripper.
Note: The Origami dripper can also use third-party filters like Kalita Wave filters or Hario V60 cone filters. The Origami-branded filters are designed specifically for the 20-rib design and will give you the best fit, but you’ve got options.
Step 4: Accessories
Origami Dripper Holder – The dripper holder sits between the dripper and your server or mug. It’s designed to cradle the 20 ribs and keep the dripper level for stable extraction. Comes in 5 color options including a wood version. The ceramic and Air drippers both fit it. Important note: the Air drippers do not come with a holder, so you’ll want to pick one up separately.
Origami Aroma Glass Coffee Server ($30) – A clean, minimal glass server designed to fit the Origami dripper on top. Works well if you want a dedicated Origami setup.
Origami x HARIO Glass Coffee Server ($44.50) – A collaboration server based on the popular Hario design with a glass handle. The top radius fits the Origami dripper perfectly for a seamless pour over setup.
